In tonight's flows, we will stoke the fire and power up the thighs and core. We will send some love to these firm foundations that carry us through life, and we will enjoy any jiggles and shakes in the body, knowing that it's just the body getting excited about being strong! Tonight's flows are inspired by the recent weather, which has treated us to lots of water in the form of torrential rain. Water is the essence of life; 71% of the Earth is covered in water and all water on Earth came from comets and asteroids! The human body is made up of 60% water; the brain and heart are 73% water and the lungs are 83% water. Water is vital for life to survive; it has the power to create and change beautiful landscapes. In its fluid form water can move and change to fit whatever vessel it is in, it is adaptable and versatile, it can find it's way into all the nooks and crannies of life and we can harness great energy from its power. It's the Autumnal Equinox this Sunday, 22nd September, when day and night are once again the same length, marking the start of Autumn 🍂The cosyness of shorter days and longer nights help nurture introspection and allows us to be mindful to let go of anything that no longer nourishes or serves us, the same way the trees drop their leaves after absorbing the nutrients ready for winter. If you have set intentions for change, allow yourself to make small changes rather than expecting a big shift overnight. Habits can take a while to change, and repetition and consistency are the key; small achievements and changes are much more sustainable than making lots of big changes simultaneously. Keep the end goal in sight and remind yourself that every day is a new day, a new beginning, so if yesterday didn't go as planned, let it go and begin afresh. No judgement, no failure; just self-compassion and kindness - none of us are perfect, and we are just doing our best 🧡So in tonight's practice we nurture the introspective nature of forward folds as we flow to warm up and lengthen the back of the body so we can ease into and relax in some lovely forward folds, allowing us to let go of the busy world around us and turn our awareness inward. We will repeat and build the sequence so what was once unknown becomes familiar, noticing sensations, noticing chatter, and grounding ourselves with breath. We lost our gorgeous boy Herbie dog suddenly at the weekend. We are heartbroken he is gone but so very grateful for all the love and memories.He has a little piece of us with him always, and we will always feel his presence behind us as he herds us on a walk.I am so thankful for our furry family licking away our tears. Our human family for their infinite love and support. For our friends for sharing wisdom and tears 💚Loss is utterly rubbish. But the depth of feeling represents the love we shared.I have only been on my mat a couple of times this week. Once to just breathe and the other to move and feel. Tonight's flows are nurturing and feel good because whatever we are going through, it won't last forever. It's that time of year when the routine returns! It's easy to get caught up in the daily momentum of life as the glorious memories of summer start to fade...The human brain is wired towards noticing and latching onto the negative. This was once an effective survival tool, which in modern day doesn't serve us as it once did, often leaving us feeling anxious and pessimistic.So, tonight's flows are inspired by the quote, "Pessimism is a misuse of imagination"; even when life feels hard, there is always something to be grateful for. Waking up every day is a miracle! We have a heart in our chest and breath in our lungs. We are alive! Life is a series of miracles connected together ✨️Tonight, we will flow through some lovely shoulder and front body stretches, physically and mentally opening our hearts to optimism. Guiding our energy into positive actions and the underlying belief that everything will be ok.
