In tonight's mandala-style flow we take a tour around our mat in all different directions as well as taking a tour around the whole body to stretch out shoulders, hips, hamstrings, side body with some juicy core and backbends to boot :) Go with the flow and let the change in direction as we move on our mat open us up to a new perspectives as we move off our mat x

Studio Re-Opening Thursday 24th June! (Providing restrictions are lifted on 21st June). I am chuffed that we are nearly there and I can't wait to see you in person - I have missed you!

There are a couple of tweaks to the schedule: scroll through the pictures for details of each class and do get in touch if you have any questions.

All classes will be on Zoom too!
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has zoomed into the LIVE classes over the last 15 months, I am truly humbled and so very grateful to you all for building and sharing such a wonderful digital community. You are all magnificent! Before the pandemic, you would have had to drag me kicking and screaming in front of a camera, but necessity is the mother of all invention and now it feels (almost!) normal. And while this has been a wonderful compromise and your energetic spirits have been beautiful, I have missed seeing you all in the flesh. But you can still catch all the weekly classes on zoom!

Yinyasa- A yang sandwich!
Tonight's flow will start with some gentle yin stretches, followed by a more dynamic yang flow and then finishing with some more yin...it's a yang sandwich! Yin is a slow, long-hold style of yoga that targets deep tissues such as joints, ligaments and fascia – the wafer-thin sheath around each of your muscles. These connective tissues can become damaged when stressed or injured and, as our bodies age, they become less flexible. Not only does yin have wonderful physical benefits, but taking some time to slow down and notice the sensations in the body can bring a sense of calm and connection. As life speeds up it's important to take time out to slow down so we can find balance in both body and mind x

Ignite your Intention: When I was first invited to set an intention at the start of a yoga class, I didn't really understand what it meant or how to do it. I mean I can't just call out to the universe the thing I want and it just magically happens, right?

My practice supports me in so many ways. I always open my practise by checking in - physically and mentally - to notice how I am feeling. I can't know what I need if I don't know where I am at. Some days I feel calm and focused. I can drop into the moment with a sense of acceptance. Other days my mind is full of chatter, telling me I haven't got time, making a mental to do list, sometimes a feeling of guilt that I can't dedicate "enough" time to my practise or setting myself "goals" to appease some other niggle.

But my practise is so much more than physical. It allows me space to just temporarily let go of everything. All responsibilities, all labels and judgements. I can really notice how I'm feeling and that helps me understand what I need to bring back balance; yin and yang. Dark and light. Energy and calm. By identifying what I need to find balance allows me to set an intention for how my practise can support me to find that quality that will bring harmony. I can shift my mindset, try out new ways of thinking and being and if something feels good and right, if I do it often enough on the mat then I can start to take that same thinking and behaviour from my practise and apply it to life.

An intention can be just one word e.g calm / strength / courage / honesty/ kindness. My practise is about making that connection to the inner voice that know's what I need to find balance and harmony and about finding the courage to listen with honesty so I can build a new belief in myself and take it out into life :)

This flow will evolve as we add layers onto the sequence to add depth, heat and different expressions of postures with a playful mindset! Regularly returning back to our opening intentions so we can culminate whatever energy and attitude we want to absorb and take with us off our mat 🙏 x

It's mental health awareness week and I think after the year we have had we have all either personally experienced mental un-wellness or someone close to us has. I have struggled with anxiety for years and it can be a struggle when you are in a fog of a mental health problem and we can often feel isolated and alone, ashamed to speak out or ask for help. But know you are not alone; struggling with mental health issues is nothing to be ashamed of and it's good to ask for support, whether from loved ones or from connecting with mental health services.

The theme of this year's mental health awareness week is Nature, which can have a really powerful effect on how we feel. For me, it's a huge reset button when I immerse myself in the beauty of nature. My perspective shifts and the stresses feel more remote and manageable. Can you find some time today to take a walk in a park, some woodland, by the sea, a lake or a river and notice the things you see, hear and feel? Or if you don't fancy a walk in the torrential rain, take a peek out of your window and look and listen for birds...listen to the rain tapping on the window! Or grow and look after a plant in your house, notice the colours and scents. However you can, connect with nature and notice how it makes you feel.

Tonight - Feel Good Flow: Our yoga practice can serve us however we're feeling in the moment. Maybe it is to invigorate, energise and burn off the thoughts. Maybe it is to find moments of calm and peace when find ourselves racing through life. This flow has only one intention - to feel good! Let this flow be your reset button; that feeling when you take a deep sigh at the end of the day when you know your work is done. We will flow and stretch out the side body and shoulders, open the chest, twist out the spine and stretch the quads and hips so we can breathe in calm and let the lips curl into a smile that we can take with us off our mat =)

We can all make changes to our every day lives so we can restore, protect and celebrate our wonderful planet; there is no planet B so let's all be a part of the change

We will wave through our vinyasas and flow through various arm alignments to find those tight spots. This soothing flow will take away the shoulder strain and release the sighs as we unwind and stretch open those creases and kinks
